For ongoing St. John Ambulance First Aid and CPR courses, plus the new Health Care provider courses held at the Victoria Park Armoury in Lindsay and Fenelon Falls Training Centre, 15 Wychwood Cres new and more courses for all levels have been added to date accommodate those wanting to learn life saving techniques. St. John Ambulance in Lindsay offers training that meets workplace requirements for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. It’s a ½ day program. The next course will be held Monday April 27th from 8 am – 12 noon. Call 324-9894 to find out more.

The Lindsay and District Red Cross needs wool donations for their Winter Warmth (Mitts for Kids) program. Over 4,00 pairs of mitts, toques and socks have been given to the Soup Kitchen, Women’s Resources, A Place Called Home, the Boy’s and Girls Club etc. Drop the wool by 37 Cambridge St. N, or call 324-8960.

Women’s Resources provides shelter, support, and referral for abused women and their children in the City of Kawartha Lakes and surrounding area. All are services are free and confidential. Flea Market at the Coboconk Train Station on Sat. July 31st from 8 - 2.  Lunch will be available.  Interested vendors call 454-1878. Proceeds go towards restoration of the Train Station.

Tickets are now available for the 13th annual Coboconk Duck Derby. The event will be held Sunday, Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. at the bridge in Coboconk. This year, 1,400 rubber ducks will go over the dam in the village, and the first four over the finish line with win prizes for the ticket holders. The Duck Derby is joint fundraiser for the Coboconk Lions Club and the United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes. Tickets are available at the United Way office, Hill’s Florist, Rick Johnson’s office and Lindsay Pontiac Buick.

The 2010 Lindsay Fair Parade is Wednesday, September 22 at 6 PM. This year's theme is "Heroes, Past and Present". Bands, floats, agricultural, community organizations, commercial and school entries.
